WOODROSE NAMPULA CHILDREN´S DAY 2024 – BEHIND THE SCENES

23rd Jul, 2024

Summoned by the call
that guides a wandering soul, where one discord the yearly joy of their inner
child and begins to feel the enlightened happiness akin to a dog’s perpetual
loyalty to joy

In response to recent events involving Woodrose International School’s Nampula branch governing body on June 31, 2024, the school hosted an exciting Children’s Day Celebration and business exposition. The event featured a wide array of fun activities designed to delight and inspire children of all ages.

Bringing the Event to Life

The Children’s
Day celebration at Woodrose was truly spectacular, filled with exhilarating
activities and delightful treats that brought joy to everyone. As soon as the
festivities began, the air buzzed with excitement. A fantastic variety of
treats and beverages were available, from mouth-watering cupcakes to refreshing
lemonade, eagerly devoured by our young food enthusiasts. The highlight was the
dazzling fashion show, where primary students confidently strutted down the
runway in their most creative and vibrant outfits. It felt like a scene from
New York Fashion Week, but even better with our models' radiating cuteness and
confidence! The fun games, including the spinning wheel and lucky shot, kept
students on pins and needles, eagerly anticipating their turn and the prizes
they could win. The excitement peaked as students engaged in various thrilling
activities, with winners receiving special prizes that sparked cheers and
laughter throughout. To top it off, high school students hosted an epic PS5 FIFA
tournament, transforming the event into a virtual stadium of enthusiastic fans.
Watching the intense matches unfold, we couldn’t help but joke about
discovering future World Cup stars among us. The students were ecstatic, their
faces glowing with pure happiness. This Children’s Day served as a heartwarming
reminder of the joy and unity within our school community.

Children’s Day was an incredibly pleasing and appealing event for
everyone involved, filling the day with boundless joy and happiness. The
laughter of children that echoed through the air, created a warm and vibrant
atmosphere, touching the hearts of all present. Colorful decorations, fun
games, and delightful treats added to the festive spirit, making every moment a
treasure. The smiles on the faces of the children, along with their
uncontainable excitement, spread a wave of happiness that was truly infectious.
It was a day where both young and old came together to celebrate, creating
beautiful memories that will be cherished for years to come!

Lessons
Learnt

Several of our interviewees, including
Kyler Mussagy [14], shared their diverse experiences. Kyler observed, 'The
event was enjoyable, and businesses, including ours, were profitable despite
the chaos and excitement from the children, which was overwhelming... However,
the significant amount of waste left behind was hard to ignore.' This
underscored the necessity for improved waste management and organization to
maintain a clean and inviting school environment. Following the event, teachers
provided valuable feedback, viewing the challenges as an opportunity to
incorporate lessons and exercises that promote not only cleanliness but also
instill lifelong habits contributing to a healthier future for all.

The Three R's:

A Friendly Reminder for Cleanliness

To instill in young minds the importance
of cleanliness, the school conducted lessons on the importance of hygiene and
responsibility in their surroundings. Among other activities, a lecture on the
need to reduce, reuse and recycle waste was given.

Reuse

Before you throw something away, think about how it can be
used again. It is as simple as turning old jars into storage containers. By
finding fun and creative ways to reuse items, we can keep our surroundings neat
and tidy.

Reduce

We can all help by being careful with the things we use
and how much we use them. For example, if you’re using paper or plastic
products, try to use only what you need. Reducing waste means less garbage to
throw away and a cleaner space for everyone to enjoy. It’s easy and makes a big
difference!

Recycle

Always
look for recycling bins and use them correctly. This not only reduces the
amount of waste we generate but also helps save natural.

Let us all remember to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
to keep our school and community clean and beautiful!

By prioritizing cleanliness, we
demonstrate our commitment to the well-being of our students and staff,
allowing everyone to fully immerse themselves in the joy and excitement of the
day without any worries.

Communication
and Coordination

Effective coordination and genuine
collaboration were pivotal to the success of the Children's Day event. The
school invested considerable effort in fostering clear communication and
coordination among students, particularly those partnering for the business
expo. Prioritizing these aspects resulted in increased profitability by the
event's conclusion. Rohaan Mustafa [15] highlighted, 'Many students eagerly
formed expo teams for extra credit, leading to some unreliable partnerships.'
Despite such challenges, Woodrose remains committed to its educational
philosophy of providing comprehensive physical, intellectual, emotional, and
moral education to ensure students' lifelong success. The teachers' steadfast
support throughout the event underscored this commitment.

Moving Forward

Henry Ford once said,

This event truly exemplified the strength of our
community, the joy of unity and the power of collaboration. We created
unforgettable memories and fostered a spirit of togetherness that will continue
to flourish. Through improved organization, communication, and a shared sense
of responsibility, we aim to create an environment where enjoyment and
accountability harmonize, ensuring everyone enjoys a positive and enriching
experience. This aligns with Woodrose's commitment to nurturing learners who
are environmentally conscious, adaptable to change, dedicated to community
service, and globally competitive.
